Brief adaptation period

It is important to wear your new SynergEyes® Multifocal lenses for a week or longer to allow your eyes to adapt to the new optical system and experience the lenses in your everyday environment. SynergEyes® Multifocal contact lens treatment allows light rays from all distances to enter your pupil simultaneously. Your eyes must learn to select the desired image at the proper time.

When you first begin to wear the lenses, you may experience slight ghosting or 3D vision. This is a normal effect of a functioning simultaneous vision system, and will typically resolve within one to two weeks. Once you have worn your lenses for a short time and have fully adjusted to the benefits of simultaneous vision, your visual clarity will be optimized.

If you have never worn contact lenses before or are currently wearing soft contact lenses, you should also expect a brief period of adaptation to get used to the feel of the hybrid lens. Once you are accustomed to the new design, your SynergEyes® Multifocal lenses will provide comfort similar to a soft contact.

Insertion and removal takes practice!

Inserting and removing the SynergEyes® Multifocal contact lens is different from removing a soft or “hard” lens. Your eye care professional will provide you with instructions and an insertion / removal video to help you learn the new technique. You may also download these materials from this site.

Daily lens cleaning

The SynergEyes® Multifocal contact lens requires particular care and should be digitally cleaned every day to maintain comfortable, clear vision. Your eye care professional can demonstrate how to properly care for your lenses.

Replacement schedule

The recommended replacement schedule for the SynergEyes® Multifocal lens is every six months.

SynergEyes® Multifocal Contact Lens Care Guide

Because SynergEyes® lenses are made of a unique combination of materials, it is important that you use only the cleaning solution recommended by your practitioner. Alcon® OPTI-FREE® Express® and Ciba Vision® Clear Care® are the only two disinfecting systems recommended for SynergEyes® lenses. Each day after you remove your lenses, you should clean them by hand prior to overnight storage for disinfection.

• Put the lens bowl-side up in the palm of your hand, apply a few drops of the OPTI-FREE® Express® or Clear Care® solution, and rub the entire lens in a circular motion with the pad of your finger. Be sure to thoroughly digitally clean the entire lens and rinse well.
• Rinse the lens in the palm of your hand with a steady stream of solution. This keeps the lens clean, clear, and comfortable to wear.
• Fill your lens case with fresh OPTI-FREE® Express® or Clear Care® solution and place the lens in the well with the bowl-side up. Never "top off" or use old solution.
• If using Clear Care®, be sure to use the specially provided case with the neutralizing disk and soak the lenses a minimum of six hours before wearing again.
